Experience
Here is a breakdown of my experiences prior to my enrollment in Education. I believe I have a breadth of knowledge that will make me an asset in the classroom. I have broken my experiences down into three major categories: Martial Arts, Art (including Drama, Dance and Vocal) and Education.
In addition to those three categories, let me give you some more background about my experiences. I have worn many hats in my lifetime. Early on in my working career I was hired as a Breakfast Cook at McDonalds, and was running the entire kitchen by my third day there. Leadership is in my blood. From there I worked as a Parts Driver for Community GMC in Brooks, where I learned quite a lot about cars. I also worked for Dinosaur Park, running the Field Station of the Tyrrell Museum. I worked at the John Janzen Nature Centre as an Exhibit Design Technician, and at the Valley Zoo. Afterwards, I apprenticed as an Electrician, then as a Plumber. Using that experience I got a job at Norburn Lighting in Burnaby where I sold lighting and plumbing fixtures, becoming a certified Lighting Technician. After a very long stint in he martial arts, I worked for The Home Depot, as a department manager and a heavy equipment trainer. Lastly, I worked as a customer service coordinator for Sun Life Financial, which was mostly just phone operation and report filing.
Due to my very varied work experiences, I feel I have a unique perspective and skill set when it comes to teaching. I have a good knowledge of day-to-day operations of a number of different occupations, and can bring that experience to students as they apply what they are learning in the classroom to real-life situations.
