Knowledge, Skills and Atttributes
The KSA's, as laid out by the Alberta government, are represented by a breakdown of 16 core attributes that all teachers should possess (the 17th basically says, "you have all of the below," so I'm only counting 16).They are:
- How Contextual Variables Affect Teaching and Learning
- The Structure of the Alberta Education System
- The Purposes of the Guide to Education and Programs of Study For Disciplines You Teach
- The Subject Disciplines They Teach
- All Students Can Learn, Albeit at Different Rates and in Different Ways
- The Purposes of Short, Medium and Long Term Planning
- Student's need for Physical, Social, Cultural and Psychological Security
- The Importance of Respecting Student's Human Dignity
- There are Many Approaches to Teaching and Learning
- The Functions of Traditional and Electronic Teaching/Learning Technologies
- The Purposes of Student Assessment
- The Importance of Engaging Parents, Purposefully and Meaningfully in All Aspects of Teaching and Learning
- Student Learning is Enhanced Through the Use of Home and Community Resources
- The Importance of Contributing, Independently and Collegially, to the Quality of Their School
- The Importance of Career-Long Learning
- The Importance of Guiding Their Actions With A Personal, Overall Vision of the Purpose of Teaching
- They Are Expected to Achieve the Teaching Quality Standard.
